Top Gun, Maverick. A Win For The West.

“If you can make one heap of all your winnings, And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss, And lose, and start again at your beginnings, And never breathe a word about your loss; If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew To serve your turn long after they are gone, And so hold on when there is nothing in you Except the will which says to them: ‘Hold on!’” Excerpt from Rudyard Kipling’s poem, If.

The fact a movie like Top Gun got past the liberal left loony’s veto system and made it to the box office, only to smash box office hits, was nothing short of miraculous. It is indicative that hope lives on for America and by extension the West. Released in the same year Roe v Wade was overturned, the timing is impeccable.

Unsurprisingly, it still attracted its fair share of criticism from the perpetually offended left. Criticized for being too patriarchal, too white, too masculine, and too clean, did not matter as it just felt good to get a few points on the scoreboard again. The year 2022 seems to be one of small victories for conservative Christians.

Whilst Top Gun did not meet all the requirements of the Marxist feminazi purveyors of neo-liberal propaganda, it still met the basic requirements. One could not miss the racial diversity, and gender equality screaming at us through the screen. Most importantly, it ticked all the “right” boxes for the “right” people. It was nostalgically patriotic, with the American flag looming large at every opportunity.

Love him or hate him, Tom Cruise produced a winner in Maverick. An actor not well-known for his depth of character, he exhibited a refreshingly deeper side as an older, more reflective Maverick. Capturing his character well, he gave him the opportunity to shine. One could almost forget he was played by Cruise himself. If this is his last Hollywood film, it would be appropriate. It is by far his best, and he goes out with a bang.

Friendship, loyalty and mentorship were interwoven scarlet threads in a tapestry of truly creative story telling. Connecting past, present and future it built on each main character, adding depth to an otherwise action-packed film about high testosterone men with entertaining jet fighting skills. Maverick taking on the father figure role in Rooster’s life for Goose, was a selfless act at a time when fatherlessness is a growing epidemic. Despite the competitive history between them, Iceman filled the void in Maverick’s life for kinship and loyalty, reflecting the traditional, reciprocal nature of family and community.

Maverick’s love interest Penny was gorgeous and unlike many older female actors, was not botoxed to the eyeballs. Although divorced, she still practiced good dating habits as an example for her own daughter. The love scenes were unusually clean, so no need to worry about cringing through semi-pornographic footage in a cinema full of strangers.

Maverick’s ability to live his career unfazed by his rank as Captain and his reputation for coming in second place, was admirable. Unmotivated by accolades or stifling theoretical text book maneuvers, he was a true renegade. He did his own thing, and was confident in his own experience, and flying abilities. True to himself, he lived an authentic life by refusing the hierarchical ladder, and resisting the system’s desire to box him into their idea of success.

Respecting the generational divide, whilst defying the aging process, Maverick courageously led by example. Exercising experience with skill and knowledge, he achieved the almost impossible task, without patronizing his younger counterparts. Despite the setbacks and lack of support, he never gave up. It was difficult for anyone, even his critics, not to respect him.

One could argue his attitude was reflective of the prolife movement. In a world where murdering babies has become the norm, the group of justices in the highest judiciary defied the culture. Despite intimidation tactics from the opposition, they each risked everything for the sake of their values and beliefs to do what’s right.

Top Gun’s counter-cultural narrative respected the patriot, the patriarchy and the parent. It did not succumb to the usual political correctness which has killed the authenticity of almost every Hollywood movie in the 21st century. Just like the US Supreme Court’s landmark decision, this film was years in the making. Its success gives underdogs worldwide, hope that some things are worth waiting and fighting for. Whilst evil globalists do their best to destroy all that’s good and right and just, light still shines through darkness. Keep holding on!

They Are Brainwashing Your Children. Lego Movie Marxism.

Emmett Brickowoski: Oh, my gosh! I love this song! “Everything is awesome. Everything is cool when you’re part of a team. Everything is awesome when you’re living out a dream.”

The made-for-children Lego Movie is about good vs evil. It is set in a fictional Lego universe with a deeply sinister underbelly determined to destroy it from the foundations up. Centered around the main character Emmett Brickowski, we watch him transform throughout the film, from ordinary Lego citizen obedient to the system, to unwitting participant in a political revolution. To the untrained mind, it may seem he is the hero doing good, but he is merely a puppet, a pawn used as part of a bigger plan. Rife with propagandistic undertones, designed to subvert children’s innocent minds, things are not what they seem as Emmett becomes complicit in the destruction of Lego Land.

The distinct class differences and personality traits that run parallel with real life are obvious. There is the ruling class made up of one Lord Business, creator of Lego land with his army of protective officers who help keep the land running smoothly. Then there is the working class, who are seemingly unquestioningly content with their lives. They work diligently, plodding along earning a living. Lastly, there is the insurgent class, who refuse to recognize Lord Business as their creator. Self-proclaimed Master Builders, they consider themselves superior to him because they can build without instruction manuals. These are the ones who want to destroy Lego land, deface it and tear away at its moral foundations.

The movie opens with construction workers dancing uniformly, and in sync. Clearly content, productive members in their community, they sing the latest hit song, “Everything’s Awesome”. Emmet takes centre stage whilst performing compliance checks, and adhering to strict OH & S protocols. He keeps the team on track with projects, maintaining order and basically following all the rules.

Emmett, like many in life is a well-intentioned, arguably perfect citizen. Portrayed as a simpleton, he makes for the perfect middle man as he knows well how to follow and enforce orders. Sadly his destructive flaw is his shallow, naively simplistic worldview. It is not long before he is seduced into a kind of hypnotic state by an encounter with the woman, Wyldstyle. Questioning nothing, he blindly follows her into a literal abyss where she is searching for The Piece of Resistance. This is the lid to the super glue Lord Business uses to protect Lego Land from being subverted by the over zealous group of morally corrupt detractors. Unlike the others, Emmett cannot build without instructions. Nevertheless, he is used to stop Lord Business from super gluing lego world into permanent perfection.

Unfortunately, this movie is shown to millions of children worldwide who, like Emmett, will also be deceived. That Emmett is the hero of the movie is a complete fallacy. His lack of consciousness made him the perfect tool used to destroy Lego Land. It is sad that he could not discern the lies and deception of the rebel class. Rather the audience will see Emmett as the nice guy who fell in love and fought hard for the woman to save Lego Land from the nefarious Lord Business. A racist, bigoted extremist who waves his gun threateningly at anyone who desires change.

In fact, Lego Land is overseen by a loving creator who constantly falls under attack by nefarious rebels. Though Lord Business is seen as the antagonist, he is the real hero. He is doing a good work gluing broken or missing pieces together. Society needs structure, order, community, shared goals, security, and someone to keep it together. Without all that, we find ourselves in a chaotic mess, with people who don’t know what they are, where they came from or where they are going.

A forgotten God, corrupt leadership, and a lack of foundational instructions, led to feminism, transgenderism, sexual deviancy, all kinds of degeneracy, and cancel culture. We need Lord Business, we need His instructions and we need His glue.

The Autism in Christian Melancholic Hedonism.

“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of light, it was the season of darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair” Charles Dickens.

Growing up, we all had to deal with being socially awkward. We called it the in- between (tween) or teen years. Some of us were more socially adept than others (likely due to intentional parenting) and learned quickly, but there were the odd balls who, either through neglect or having odd parents themselves, had to wade through the real world to become socially “normalised” the hard way. Many came through the other end relatively unscathed and better adults as a result.

Today however, those odd balls are moved from one school to another due to “bullying”. Mollycoddled, medicated and labeled as autists, they are not being taught how to deal with conflict or adjust their behavior in order to get through an important stage of life which strengthens and builds up character. Consequently, we have lost a generation of potentially free-thinking adults to pharmaceutical companies and lazy psycho-babblers hell-bent on robbing individuals of true agency, rendering them impotent. Many may never find freedom from their micro-plastic, rootless lives to attain higher living or the great purpose for their existence. Yet there is hope in Christ.

Freedom in Christ

Contrary to Nietzsche’s analysis, God is not dead. God in Christ was not a weak-willed “yes man” who preached a passive gospel. Just because a man is gentle does not make him weak. Just because a man refuses the power and wealth of this world does not make him passive. His strength was in His endurance, His love in His dying, His power in His resurrection and His justice will be in His returning.

The Übermenschen Nietzsche speaks of IS the Christian living authentically in Christ. It is pushing through the uncomfortableness, the struggle and often the pain of being different, odd or peculiar. Standing strong through it, we build up those back bones in Christ, knowing we will have our rewards, not only eternally but also in the present life.

Life is richer, fuller, deeper and more meaningful when we embrace conflict. The Christian does not shy away from challenges. As a consequence, commitments are long-lasting, more satisfying. We can smile and thrive through hardships, knowing their worth. There’s not a trail of broken relationships, burnt bridges and string of shallow friendships when we act as people with agency.

Christ set the example for us. He wasn’t fickle, tossed by every wind of doctrine or moved by His feelings. He was hyper-fixated on His assured victory, allowing nothing get in the way. His foundation sure, He knew to whom He belonged. He knew who He was and where He was going. Some might even say he was on the autism spectrum.

“But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you. To Him be the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.”

Risen.

Pilate: Your ambition is noticed. Where do you think it will lead? Clavius: Rome. Pilate: And? Clavius: Position. Power. Pilate: Which brings? Clavius: Wealth. A good family. Someday a place in the country. Pilate: Where you’ll find? Clavius: An end to travail. A day without death. Peace. Pilate: All that for peace. Is there no other way?

Risen is by far the best movie ever made on Jesus’ death and resurrection, told through the eyes of pagan soldier, Clavius. With startling accuracy we watch his journey following Jesus’ crucifixion as he evolves from obedient Roman pagan to Christian Übermensch. Clavius is about to find out there is another way which leads to peace.

No different to today’s political oligarchy, Risen exposes man’s fear and deceitful suppression of truth. The collaboration between Pagan Empire and hypocritical religious leaders, their lies surrounding Jesus’ empty tomb, and persecution of His disciples, culminate in a pagan soldier’s discovery of truth.

Clavius discovers “a day without death” requires a daily dying to self and a peace in Christ no other can give. Personally, I couldn’t help but love Clavius’ character from the beginning. His bravery, integrity and desire for truth was apparent in the way he served Rome. Played by Joseph Fiennes made him also easy on the eyes, but I digress.

Clavius’ transformation from pagan to believer in Christ was beautiful to behold. But I’m a glutton for Christlike transformations, likely why I find myself associating with the most unlikely people. My hope for all, no matter how lost or broken they seem, is that they find life in Christ.

Add this movie to your list!

Religious Liberalism.

“Some ideas are so stupid that only intellectuals believe them.”
― George Orwell

Julius Wellhausen, (born May 17, 1844, Hameln, Hanover [Germany]—died Jan. 7, 1918, Göttingen, Ger.)

Wellhausen, biblical scholar and theologian decided the Bible was not based on God’s divine revelation, but rather a collection of stories written by mere mortals. By intellectualising the reading and preaching of the Bible, he removed God and the Holy Spirit combining Christian thought with evolutionary to deconstruct biblical beliefs.

This subtle shift within churches was not immediately obvious as outwardly, things did not change. The choir still sang, the cathedrals stood majestically, and the church bells still chimed, whilst Jesus hung from the cross. But there He remained for many, as proud theologians followed by a naive class of intellectual fools dismissed the resurrection and redemption found in His empty tomb.

Instead of God being both vengeful and loving, He became a permissive God of wishy washy love. Instead of sin being a violation of God’s laws, it was seen as a sign of immaturity.

Salvation through God in Christ became enlightenment and progressivism. That we could be our own gods was the biggest lie told in the history of mankind and continues to this day.

“Let no one deceive himself. If anyone among you seems to be wise in this age, let him become a fool that he may become wise. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, “He catches the wise in their own craftiness”;”

We already live in a dictatorship.

“Leadership is the power of one harnessing the power of many” John C Maxwell.

The Ukraine-Russia war is making headlines all over the world. It has become almost as divisive as COVID19. Mainstream media have either decided to or been told to run with the narrative that it is Russia’s fault, that Putin who runs his country with an iron fist must be the bad guy. Ukraine’s president Zelensky, represents the liberal world order, western values and indiscriminate freedom, so he must be the good guy. Where’s the lie?

Perhaps there is not one lie but multiple lies, and no one knows what is true anymore. All I know is the West is not free, we do not live in a liberal democracy and dictatorships are not what you think they are.

What does a free society look like?

Well traditionally, we have come to understand free societies are ones which promote free market and Laissez-faire enterprise, the rule of law, civil liberties, limited government, and economic and political freedom, centered on individual rights and liberties. Individual rights such as freedom of religion, freedom of speech, freedom to consume, move, medicate and procreate at will, were just some of the benefits to living in a free society.

What does a dictatorship look like?

For starters it does not need a dictator. A dictatorship or totalitarian state can be governed by a group of people who control our thoughts, religion, speech, movement, and finances. They employ propagandistic means by working alongside mass media groups, smaller political groups, large corporations, financial and educational institutions as well as law enforcement agencies.

One need only take a cursory glance at Western society today to see we have deviated more into a dictatorship. The governing oligarchy have taken over people’s lives such that whatever ideas of freedom we had, have been hijacked by those in power. The worst part is we do not even realize it. We look at Vladimir Putin and see a power hungry, evil dictator threatening liberal democracies globally, who terrorizes his people and wants to take over the world. If that is true of Putin, then my hat goes off to his blatant honesty. At least he is not hiding his intentions.

Zelensky, on the other hand, comes off as a liberal cowboy, he has become the West’s poster boy for freedom, democracy, and peace. Zelensky, backed by Biden and other tyrannical, crazy globalists is sweet-talking the entire world into joining him to take down the “bully” Putin. The people love him to the point Russia has been cancelled everywhere.

The propagandistic and sinister way in which the story is unfolding highlights the need to question whether the West already lives under a dictatorship and who the real bullies are.

Think about it.

NoVax exemption for Djokovic.

“Aren’t you ashamed, you who walk backward along the whole path of existence, and blame me for walking backward along the path of the promenade?” Diogenes of Sinope.

Once again Melbourne, Australia has been put on the map, as it (once again) makes a world class fool of itself. To our shame, Novak Djokovic, the Serbian world champion tennis player, 9-time winner of The Australian Open Men’s singles title, unjabbed, unashamed, and beloved by the people, was recently refused entry into Australia even though he was granted a vaccination exemption.

Personally, I think the rules should not exist, but since they do, let’s apply them consistently for everyone across the board. Whilst many Australian citizens overseas were unable to return home, everyday people unable to get vax exemptions, and many cannot even visit dying or dead grandmas, Djokovic was granted an exemption only to be refused entry.

I don’t know about anyone else, but as with anything covid related, my head went into a kind of tailspin. It was almost like watching a form of 4D tennis, scratching my head with confusion, as it flicks left to right, wondering what the roools are again and whatever happened to the damn ball. Double-speak, double-think, and double standard. Not to mention, the various views and opinions circulating social media, from moral outrage at him being granted an exemption, to outright anger and disgust at his potential deportation. I even lost a friend as a result. It’s all too hard. The moral compass of people is far too subjective and prone to groupthink, if one did not learn to think for oneself, one would not know what to think.

Thankfully, I have trained my brain to make up its own mind about things, and hopefully come to some logical and rational conclusion. In the case of Djokovic, I do not believe it is fair that he was granted an exemption to fly all the way out here, only to be refused entry and deported. I know how it feels. Having attempted my own small-scale border crossing only to be turned back. It didn’t feel good, but that’s another story.

Admittedly, part of me was glad the same thing could happen to a high profile such as Djokovic, but as mentioned earlier, I think the rules are unnecessary and unjust. In my opinion, it would have been better if all tennis players and high profiles just set their egos and the money aside to boycott participating in any sports or concerts held in countries which mandate compulsory vaccinations.

Whilst I admire Djokovic’s convictions to remain unjabbed, in applying for an exemption he was still playing by “their” rules. I don’t want to swear here, but he should have given government bureaucrats a big F you and told them he would not play by those rules. Full stop. But here we are, a flawed, programmed people who know things are not right, yet systematically “go along” anyway. It is a conundrum.

If we truly want our freedoms back, the people need a serious jolt of de-programming. They need to take the Jesus pill, refuse totalitarian diktats and start walking backwards- along the promenade. If the rules are unjust, refuse to play. No more applying for exemptions, no more getting jabbed, no more masks, no more QR coding, enough with the testing and the isolating and just live. It is that simple.

Djokovic is currently holed up in a “hotel” awaiting appeal until Monday. The hotel is in fact a detention centre filled with refugees where supporters of Djokovic are currently protesting.

The Pub, The Spit, and The Cult of Intolerance in Political Discourse.

“. . .the narrow ridge is the meeting place of the we”

~~Martin Buber

Jimeone Roberts, an alleged known neo Nazi recently had his beer spat in at an Irish pub because he was sporting a black sun tattoo. The Sonnenrad, or “sun wheel”, is a symbol that was used by the Nazis in Germany. It is also the same symbol used by the Azov Battalion in Ukraine, which many support. The tattoo can be offensive to some, it might even be distasteful and ugly to those who actually know its history, but what kind of society have we become when spitting in people’s beer is acceptable simply because we disagree with their politics. Distasteful as Jimeone‘s politics may be to many, there is no justification for spitting in ones beer. The young bar tender literally put himself at the same level as the tattooed bloke.

There are many examples of this kind of behavior, both online and off. People have become intolerant. The world has become one huge, divisive, ugly, schoolyard. Egging politicians, stickering hateful propaganda, the attacking of alternative news media and mainstream journalists. There are countless more incidences. Trolls and fake accounts online, confidently spew out hatred, causing division and angst. Not to mention the memes, photoshopped pics and doxxing. Such ugly behaviour exists on all sides and has contributed to anger and fear, causing many to flee for safety in echo chambers.

Echo chambers are where political discourse goes to die. Safe spaces wherein individuals discuss political ideas, stroke each other’s egos and pat each other’s backs. Congratulatory, emphatic agreements of mutual hatred the enemy on opposing sides. Socio-political and cultural views can never be challenged, tested or proven, leaving individuals emotionally and intellectually immature. Boring, uninspiring, and zombifying, echo chambers are to be avoided at all costs.

Maturity is borne when people can discuss ideas, no matter how distasteful, civilly and respectfully. The dichotomous left/right narrative is designed to encourage genuine, robust discussions. It is why our parliamentary process exists. Parliament House was designed for this very thing, discussion and debate. It takes courageous people, strong personalities and fearless free thinkers to make great societies. It might get ugly, fiery and contentious, but people are sharpening each other’s minds, gleaning the best of all sides to create what we have come to know as free, liberal democracies.

When discussing political or philosophical ideas, we can all learn from Buber’s philosophy of dialogue. We can all exist on the narrow ridge he speaks of. It is the place where opposing views can meet, where the I-thou or us vs them dichotomy can duel. Often this requires a coming together, mutual consent to listen, understand and respect each other’s minds. Setting aside biases and prejudices for a moment to perhaps get a glimpse of the other side. Sometimes concluding with agreement, concession or conciliation, and more often agreeing to disagree. Sadly, this almost never happens.

The world would be a better place if everyone strived to see things from others’ perspectives or try to understand another’s point of view. The civil thing for that bar tender to do would have been to pour the beer and enter into polite discourse with Jimeone. Not everyone will agree on everything, but we can still be loving and compassionate throughout the process. We need only look to Christ for an example. Christ stands at the centre of the narrow ridge with His arms outstretched, beckoning to all that might listen. It is why He sat with the wine bibbers, and tax collectors, sinners in the eyes of self righteous religious leaders who enjoyed their echo chambers. More people need to be more like Christ.

“And when the Pharisees saw it, they said to His disciples, “Why does your Teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?” When Jesus heard that, He said to them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy and not sacrifice.’ For I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.””

The Social Justice Shylocks.

“I think everyone’s had their pound of flesh and now it’s time to move on.” Tony Blair

I have not had much to do with Antifa or BLM directly and do not really know what they are about, I think they themselves don’t know what they are about. All I know is they are always complaining about something. Having covered the recent Antifa counter protest against the “extreme right”, I was afforded a glimpse into their operation.

Approaching the rally, a girl was on the microphone shrieking in high pitch, “Black lives matter! Black lives matter! Black lives matter!” It was with such fervent urgency, the image of my 4 year old kicking and screaming on the floor came to mind, “I want ice cream! I want ice cream!” Anyone whose attended their rallies will know what I’m talking about. After the screeching came to a halt, there was silence, followed by speeches, formalities, and direction as to where they would march and scream at people.

Unlike the freedom rallies, it seemed almost pointless. They were fighting a fight which was fought and won decades ago. Racial equality? Yep to the best as can be expected we have achieved that. Gender equality? Yep women almost run the world now too. Are blacks still segregated? No. Do they have access to opportunities today? Yes. They are living in one of the most black liberated societies in the world, yet many are still not happy.

Not only do they still feel oppressed, but they can’t seem to let go of past injustices. They hold on to every indiscretion, every mistake, every personal or political controversy by anyone who dared challenge their ideology. Adding to the above, they stay on the look out for mistakes, laying in wait to trap or remind those convicted or the public. They are relentless.

They walk around with signs, one which stated, “Avi is a wife basher”. It’s alleged Avi Yemini threw a chopping board at his wife. Obviously a domestic issue which was dealt with by a court, yet here we have the social justice shylocks still peddling the story. Maybe Avi did throw something at his wife. As in many cases, in many marriages, things get heated and things get thrown. To call him a “wife basher” over one incident is a little hyperbolic and bordering just a little on slander. It is also alleged Antifa have been attacking freedom protesters during the Occupy Spring St rallies. One antifa member also made a cowardly attempt at egging Craig Kelly.

Andy Nolche and I were there to film the rally, so were sat peacefully at a safe distance behind the police line, when a group were alerted of our presence and made their self-righteous way across to us. One of them proceeded (to my disgust) force-feeding Andy musk sticks. Tell me that’s not perverted on some level, and bordering close to assault. They obviously recognized him as the young man who mistakenly made a political statement years ago, was convicted and sentenced. He paid his dues, and learned a few life lessons, but they don’t just want jail time, they want his blood. They even assumed I didn’t know who he was, like I’m a naive, immigrant woman who can’t tell right from wrong. I think his sentencing was a little extreme, but that’s another story.

There is no forgiveness with social justice Shylocks, they think they are good and righteous. They cry out in the streets that black lives matter, but I wonder exactly how much they have done for actual black lives. They scream for public health, yet the majority of them are obese and many are likely drug addicted. I mean one of them was carrying a large bag of musk sticks. They think their ideology is correct, that they can do no wrong, but they are deluded individuals who cannot look at their own sinful natures, flaws and past mistakes. According to them, they are above reproach. They advocate for open borders, open toilets, free drugs, free sex, and free loading. They are anti-Christian, anti-freedom, pro big govts, and pro total govt control. There are no boundaries to their degenerate beliefs.

BLM and Antifa are like rabid dogs with a bone, they can’t or won’t let go. They will hang you mercilessly for every mistake you make or every “wrong” you think. They are too busy pointing their chubby fingers in your faces, they can’t even see the four fingers directed back at them as they shriek for a murderer like Barabas’ freedom while the innocents are crucified.

Like the Scribes and Pharisees Jesus came to challenge, they have it all wrong, that practicing what one preaches is the honourable thing. To practice otherwise is hypocritical. The inability to hear truth, a blind self-righteousness and desire to control the narrative for personal gain and political power, crucified Christ. Just like it continues to crucify truth in the public square today.

The powers that be have their useful idiots in the left. I would like to think hope lives on, that redemption is still available for them, but one need only look and see their frothing mouths and their blood thirsty lust for what they consider, justice, and I wonder if Jesus could reach into their hearts and radically transform them. There’s always hope, I’m sure.

“Then all the tax collectors and the sinners drew near to Him to hear Him. And the Pharisees and scribes complained, saying, “This Man receives sinners and eats with them.” So He spoke this parable to them, saying: “What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he loses one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness, and go after the one which is lost until he finds it? And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing. And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and neighbors, saying to them, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost!’ I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance.”

Fear is the Virus.

“The only real prison is fear, and the only real freedom is freedom from fear.” Aung San Suu Kyi.

Saturday’s Freedom Day Rally was an emotional one, with a little divine intervention, Melbourne’s weather kept in sync with the mood of the people. The sun broke through the clouds, whilst the rain poured down. Hope covered fear splashed across the sky throughout much of the day as the people stood their ground. Unlike many previous protests, this was a “police-approved” protest (whatever that means), and the people came out in the thousands united in the one goal, freedom.

There was real fear in the air today, but it was no longer fear of the virus. It was fear of a Dictatorship and its current overlords. Dicktator Dan is currently in the throes of passing a Bill which would give him unlimited power to control the State of Victoria as he so desires. The Pandemic Management Amendment Bill eerily resembles Hitler’s Enabling Act. This Bill, govt overreach, job losses, vaccine mandates, border closures, segregation, and downright oppression have awakened the people. Victorians are afraid and rightly so. They have already lost so much. Govt overreach and a segregated community can no longer be justified or tolerated.

Speeches came from individuals of all walks of life. An ex-police officer pleaded with Vic police to stand with the people and follow their consciences. An aspiring politician urged the people become politically active and support her and other independents to “vote Dan out”. The cries from the podium were mostly about fighting for freedom, but no one could articulate out loud what that fight really means. Everyone knows freedom was never won by the vote, the system is flawed and set up against the people. Nor was it acquired by begging politicians through petitions or lobbying via emails and phone calls. Protesting weekly at “police-approved” events is not going to cut it either.

The people have decided they no longer wish to be controlled, jabbed or divided. They have weighed up the costs and chosen to fight for freedom. However fear can either stifle or strengthen. The violinist captured the mood perfectly. A melancholic rendition of Australia’s national anthem pierced through the air, cutting through the hearts of people, bringing many to tears. The current undertone was of a people mourning Australia of old. The Great South Land of the Holy Spirit brought to its knees by the fear of a virus with a 99% recovery rate. This realisation coupled with the reality that life as they knew it may never be the same again was both heart breaking and motivating. The people love a good protest but deep down they know it is going to take more than a few big protests to change anything.

Our freedoms came at a cost. Brave men shed their blood so we could live freely in relative comfort and ease for the last 200+ years. Yes. Fear is the real virus. Once we overcome fear, real freedom can be accomplished. The greatest example we can look to is Christ. He shed His blood on the cross that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again. (2 Cor 5;15) Live for Christ or be a slave to the State. Until we come to terms with the real virus, there can never be lasting change. Change is what happens when people die.
